Asthma is a common disorder in which chronic inflammation of the bronchial tubes makes them swell, narrowing the airways. Asthma finds its mention in ayurveda as shwasa roga There are five types of asthma described in ayurvedic texts. The most commonly found type is tamak shwasa i.e bronchial asthma. Diet and regimen play an important role in managing this disease. According to various ayurevedic texts , following instructions if followed properly helps a lot to minimize the intensity of the disease.
1. Avoid dust.
2. Take old shali rice.
3. Make use of honey.
4. Have a sleep at day time.
5. Avoid use of cold water.
6. Avoid walking too much.
7. Do fomentation on chest.
8. Avoid taking rough food.
9. Take desi ghee after meal
10. Avoid taking fish as food.
11. Don't take water after meal.
12. Do not take sooran/jimikand.
13. Restrict the use of liquid diet.
14. Do not take bath with cold water.
15. Avoid taking cold and heavy diet.
16. Avoid walking with heavy luggage.
17. Take dal of kulath and wheat, barley. etc.
18. Keep a sufficient gap between meals and sleep.
19. Avoid being in cold area. Do not use cooler or A.C.
20. Do not suppress the urge of urination, defecation, thirst and cough.
