Isabgol has best quality and highly soluble fiber content which makes it an effective natural remedy for digestive issues particularly constipation.
Isabgol known as Psyllium husk is derived from the seeds of the Plantago ovata plant, grows primarily in Asia. The word "psyllium" which has greek etymology, means "flea" in reference to the hue, form and size of seeds. Because of the boat-shaped seeds, the persian word isabgol meaning "horse ear" is the source of the name. It belongs to the family plantaginaceae and is a 10-45 cm short-stemmed annual herb.
Isabgol has best quality and highly soluble fiber content which makes it an effective natural remedy for digestive issues particularly constipation. When mixed with water it expands and forms a gel like substance that helps to soften stool and promote regular bowel movements. Apart from its benefits for digestion, it is frequently used to control cholesterol, aid in weight reduction by encouraging feelings of fullness and enhance gut health in general. It is frequently eaten in a variety of ways, like as a powder that is combined with water, added to smoothie or baked into products.
