All memories are recovered memories, and we recover them through associations: We remember a past event because something currently in our awareness -- something we're looking at, hearing, tasting, thinking about, whatever -- reminds us of something, which reminds us of something else and so on back. That's why recent events are easy to remember: The environment is still loaded with cues and the chain of links is short.
I recall the time when I moved into a new apartment complex soon after my wedding. One of the most peculiar things I noticed was that there were hardly any exercise faddists and very few morning/evening walkers. But the situation has changed dramatically lately. Almost everyone I know, young or old, is out exercising nowadays. Awareness that exercise is good for health has increased greatly, but surprisingly, most individuals do not seem to know the more specific benefits that accrue from exercise beyond controlling weight and benefiting the heart.
A poor diet full of high-fat, sugary and salt-laden foods can contribute to weight gain, raise blood pressure and increase cholesterol levels all of which are risk factors for heart disease. A healthy diet is a balanced diet of protein (lean meat, fish, dairy products and vegetarian alternatives), unsaturated fat, carbohydrates (starchy foods such as bread and pasta), vegetables and fruit. It should be low in saturated fat, salt and sugar. A healthy diet can also increase the chances of survival after a heart attack by relieving pressure on the heart. The American Heart Association (AHA) has issued guidelines for reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease by dietary and other lifestyle practices. One of its general principles deals with reducing the risks of coronary disease by reducing bad cholesterol (LDL). The major components that raise LDL are saturated fats and high cholesterol foods. Dietary factors that lower bad cholesterol include vegetable oils rich in polyunsaturated fats (PUFA) and monounsaturated fats (MUFA) and to a lesser extent soluble fiber and soya protein. Vegetable oils like safflower oil are rich in PUFA while oils like canola oil, olive oil and groundnut oil are rich in MUFA. Saturated fat should be minimized. Thus foods can really help have a healthy heart in a healthy body.

Place your hands flat on the floor so that they are directly underneath your shoulders. Keep the arms bent with elbows tucked into the side of the body. Roll the shoulder blades back down towards the spine, feeling a lovely opening in the chest.
We all know that too much sugar leads to dental cavities. But did you know that researchers are just as concerned about exposure to acid (which could dissolve tooth enamel) from excessive consumption of soft drinks and fruit juice? Skyrocketing consumption of soft drinks, fruit juice, energy and sports drinks has many health professionals concerned. In addition to the extra calories these drinks provide, they also contain acids that gradually dissolve the enamel of our teeth with long-term exposure. (The enamel is the thin, hard outer layer of our teeth that maintains tooth structure and acts as a barrier to decay. When enamel wears away, teeth become cracked, discolored and more sensitive to hot and cold).
Ginseng is perhaps the most widely recognized plant used in traditional medicine and now plays a major role in the herbal health care market. For more than 2000 years, various forms have been used in medicine. The name Panax derives from the Greek word for “all healing” and its properties have been no less touted. Ginseng root's man shaped figure led proponents of the “Doctorine of Signatures” to believe that the root could strengthen any part of the body. Through the ages, the root has been used in the treatment of asthenia, atherosclerosis, blood and bleeding disorders, colitis and to relieve the symptoms of ageing, cancer and senility. Evidence that the root possesses a general strengthening effect, raises mental and physical capacity and exerts a protectant effect against diabetes, neurosis, and some cancers has been reported. Today, its popularity is because of the proposed “Adaptogenic Effect” (stress-protective).

Bee is one of the oldest species in the world, its age dates longer than 50 million years ago and some scientists believe that propolis is the main factor that has contributed to this longevity. Propolis is a sticky resin collected by the bees from the buds or bark of certain trees like: birch, poplar, eucalyptus, chestnut, willow, pine, elm, oak. These trees produce a special antibiotic sap in order to protect themselves from infection. Bees collect this sap, blend it with was flakes secreted by special glands on their abdomen and use it for their purposes.
“In Hindu mythology, the sun god is worshipped as a symbol of health and immortal life”. The sun salutation is a graceful sequence of twelve positions performed as one continuous exercise. It is a combined process of Yoga Asanas and Pranayama (Yogic postures and regulated breathing). These alternating backward and forward bending postures flex and stretch the spinal column, in this way the body becomes flexible and the entire portion of the lungs begins to function which results in correct breathing. Moreover, it improves muscle strength and flexibility as well as ensures good circulation of blood, all this is meant to help remove blockages (disease) in the casual, subtle and physical bodies. Traditionally, it is performed at dawn, facing the rising sun.
