Ratnas are known as precious stones. Everybody is passionate towards precious stones for earning money. Gems help to maintain the body as well as over powering the senility and disease ‘mani’ is used as a synonym of ratna. Refined stones which attract the people; a symbol of royalty. In Ayurveda text ratnas are used to wear , to donate or worship and to consume in the form of medicine to treat the disease. Gems make us beautiful by wearing stones in necklace, earrings, and bangles for both males and females. The precious stones can create an aura of cosmic rays around our body and give many benefits of health and impression on other people it has been felt. Donation of gems also creates an impression of royalty in the society and create self confidence which is very important for mental disorders. Internal use of rattanas is not recommended without purification and pisti or bhasam making. Ayurveda is also avedic science so it can be related to jyotish also which believe that all the disease and misfortune comes due to the movement of planets of this universe and due to closeness of our mother earth to our solar system, it will affect us more.
Mainly, There are 9 gems which effects our body and also have relation with planets.
The gemstones like manikya, Pushprag, pravala etc. If we wear as a rings acc. To their relation with planet(graha) then the respective graha is said to become pleased. The gem stones used in raskarama, rasyana or for giving away as gift or wearings on the body, or for the worshipping of god are always best. In Ayurveda and upto some extend unani both ancient branches of medicine developed in India recommend the use of precious stones .
They occupy different places in our Natal chart (Janma Kundali). According to their specific location in natal chart, they decide several factors with reference to our life.
By looking at ones natal chart one can predict several things with special reference to Ayurveda as well. Here, now we are trying to put a short introduction to such areas of co-relations. Ayurveda strongly believes that the entire universe is made up of or composed of Panchamahabhootas (i.e. Five Basic Elements) namely:
Since Jyotish is a cotemporary Branch of Vedic Sciences. It also accepts the therapy of Panchamahabhootas. Therefore the Nine planets about whom we have discussed before can also be co-related with there five Basic Elelments and they are as follows:
Planets & Vital Tissues (Dhatus): There are references available with specific respect to the co-relation of planets and the Vital Body tissues (Dhatus) of the Human body, in othere words, one can say that there exist a reference of planets governing a specific type of dhatu (Vital Tissues). As per Ayurvedic text, these dhatus are considered to be an important component of forming of body (Sharira); as it is rightly said, defined as "Deha Dharanat Dhatavah !" They are 7 in numbers and surprisingly each of them (except some of them) has been co-related with the planet. There is a mention of 3 component which are not actually comes under the category of Dhatus but Updhatus as per Ayurvedic text. It will be quite interesting to go through this important linkage:
